Bread therapy is a therapeutic experience for women that uses kneading bread as a form of art therapy, psycho-physical practice and creative work with hands. It takes place in cozy and supportive spaces, suitable for group therapeutic work related to creativity, physicality and feminine energy.

The goal of bread therapy is not to teach cooking techniques, but to offer a space for:

• inner work
• release of tension
• creative expression
• feminine connection
• ritual experience
• awareness and gentle transformation of internal processes

Bread here is a symbol, tool and reflection of our inner energy.

How the practice works

We will begin our therapy with getting to know each other and creating an intention. At the beginning, each participant determines a personal theme, desire or inner process that she wants to work on.

Then we move on to the real part - kneading bread with sourdough. Kneading is done as a therapeutic ritual - with attention, presence, breathing and feeling. Hands and their movement become a tool for expression, release and creation.

Then, within two hours, we do a 30-minute folding. This process is both structuring for the bread and symbolic for our internal processes – arranging, building, stabilizing.

During the dough breaks, we move on to the therapeutic part. While the dough rests (about 25 minutes), we do different practices according to the theme of the workshop:

• guided visualizations
• psychophysical exercises
• breathing techniques
• mind maps
• creative practices
• rituals for feminine energy
• awareness and grounding techniques

Each workshop has a different theme and a different bread, in order to cover a wider spectrum of personal awareness and feminine transformation.

Finally, each participant leaves with her own dough, which she bakes at home the next day, after it has fully risen. This is the end of the ritual and a continuation of the process in her personal space.
